The clients for this project dreamed of an open plan space where their own large immediate family could grow, while also being able to accommodate their tight knit extended family. Through early concept design investigation we were quick to determine the existing early 2000’s extension didn’t support the lifestyle the clients wanted to achieve. Connection to the outside was minimal and awkwardly located, and living spaces were disconnected. Our design solution removes and replaces the existing extension, to create a space that properly supports the intended use of the home. The large open plan kitchen, dining, and family area is supplemented by a now separate and private living room, as well as practical services space. The generous functional butlers pantry and laundry were crucial parts of this busy families life. Additionally, throughout the house bedrooms have been reconfigured to increase rooms, and bathrooms are refreshed.
